OK, let's make it interesting. Kentucky goes further than Kansas. Want to bet? You name the wager. Within reason, you're on.

I hope they meet in the championship game.

In favor of Kansas: they have been #1 most of the season. Very experienced, steady, good coach. None of them will leave footprints in the NBA but they are a very good college team.

In favor of Kentucky: what you consider their weakness I consider their strength. Three starters and key contributors are freshmen. Except they aren't really freshmen any more. They are what, 32-2? John Wall doesn't put up 30 a game and needs to work on his shooting but is as cool as a cucumber. He has owned that team from the word go, has the rock in his hands most of the time, and has not wavered. He reminds me, in a different way, of Derrick Rose, another freshman who made an impact.

Speaking of Rose, nice story in the Tribune yesterday. His old high school is in the Illinois final four this weekend, which they won twice when he was there, and he showed up to give them a fire-up talk before they went downstate. Can you imagine being one of those players?

UPDATE: Simeon, an inner city school, won last night and plays for the championship tonight against Whitney Young.

Young is a very interesting school. They are in the south loop, near UI-Chicago. Chicago has a well deserved reputation for rotten high schools. A few of the admission based ones like Young are about as good as it gets in this country. Like the city itself, the eagles fly next to the pigeons.
