It's a tough one for everyone except those who will bend any logic to suit their purposes. It's not a logical analogy. These are more logical:
Guns don't kill people - people use guns to kill people (Without someone aiming and pulling the trigger, guns don't fire)
Cars don't kill people - people use cars to kill people. (Without a driver the car is not dangerous)
otherwise guns and cars and knives would be in jail, not people. Both are inanimate objects.
and on and on and on...
Now what convinces people to use a gun or a car to kill people? Religious zealots are often one of them.
