This support was added overnight and applies to non IE browsers. It is to support the sound notification whenever there is a new reply, a new message in the agent or a new private message. This is based on your profile configuration. The default is to have that enabled.

If you have received this notification from the browser, it probably means that this was never installed before. This is usually installed on pretty much all browsers now.
