In general I agree with you, but there are reasons in this society to make sure faces can be seen. To paraphrase one Quebec politician, if you were a child care worker, would you let a child be picked up by someone in a niqab? Would you accept a picture of someone in a niqab as valid ID? Maybe that all works in a world where women don't have rights, but this is the west, and those rights are severely compromised by hiding ones face.

Quebec seems to have made the decision that rather than try to single out and list all those situations in which a niqab should not be allowed, to simply ban them for any government services - giving or receiving.

It may well be akin to killing flies with a sledgehammer, but I can sort of see where they're coming from.
