Manic depression. Fortunately it always passes. It's the biggest reason I should not ever drink, because one feeds the other.

The good news is I asked the biggest hardass in my AA group to be my sponsor. Think of yourself and Mr. Baird in spectacularly bad moods and that approaches it. Sometimes what we need to hear is not what we want to hear. This guy literally shouts at people in meetings when they get whiny. He has been sober for a long time so I listen to him. He says I have lost some very good friends to this disease so don't ask for any shortcuts from me.

BTW, that was a kind act of you to offer to be my sponsor. A sponsor has to be an alcoholic and know the disease, that's all.
