>>>But when you get to Man of LaMancha be sure to just listen to the OBC with Richard Kiley and Joanne Diener. Unfortunately the movie ( Peter O'Toole and Sophia Loren ) was a disaster. Same could be said of Camelot. Only Richard Burton can do "Each evening from December to December ... "
>>
>>It was through Man of LaMancha that I discovered Richard Kiley was not just a terrific actor. Have you seen his "Little Prince"? Or his one man show (I can't recall the name right now) where he acts out poems and stories? He's brilliant.

>>>And then there is Les Mis ( if you ever get to see the documentary about all the languages it has been done it don't miss it. Seeing them do "One day more" in Danish, then French, then Portugese is a hoot )
>>
>>Les Mis is the finest musical I've ever seen. I want those guys to write a new Anthem for Canada. Get rid of the dirge and get something truly inspiring.

I only saw it here in Toronto, but it was with Colm Wilkinson as Valjean, and it was truly awe inspiring. Practically no props (a couple of tables and some junk for the barricade scene), but it was all so imaginably real. Words cannot describe the emotion the music conjured. And the way the same musical theme ran through all of it was incredible.

Here's something you might not know. Wilkinson's major musical hero? Ray Charles. Next greatest influence? Chuck Berry.
