Mike,

Put yourself in these kids shoes. You come from the hood, you probably can't pass an ACT test to save your soul, because you probably can't construct a proper sentence, much less derive a standard deviation. Now, these rich folks are all slapping you on the back, telling you how you are soooooo loved by everyone, but you can't have any money to live on, though you make millions for the universities.

Then your athletic skills put you in play for a lottery win, and you think they should stay in school? These kids aren't going to be scientists, programmers, or much of anything - based on the education they got in basketweaving. So, I don't blame them for grabbing the brass ring, while it is there and available. It is sad though, that most of those guys will not know anything about investments, and will get bilked.

>Every year this month I feel like college hoops is so much more enjoyable than the pros. The college game exhibits the enthusiasm of youth. The NBA seems cold and cynical in comparison. They barely put forth an effort until the playoffs.

>What I honestly don't get is why the top collegians rush to the NBA. What's wrong with being a BMOC? Everything is provided for you, every last thing. The pro money will still be there for you in a year or two. I hope John Wall returns to Kentucky next year to complete unfinished business.
