In SSMS 2008 You can right-click on a table and select Edit Top 200 Rows. After that you can click on SQL toolbar button and adjust the query. Very handy for quick viewing/editing of table records. In SSMS 2005 you have option to "Open" table wich will try to pull all tables records. You either have to wait until all records are fetched or try to cancel the query.
