I got over most of it a couple of years ago after fighting and complaining about it for years. You are correct. It is a pain.

Personally, I do my data handling almost exclusively on the server side (using TSQL). I was used to doing that with VFP anyway since I've been using SQL Server as the backend since last century and it makes sense to do the work at the database end if possible.
