>I have a HP Pavilion dv5000. As soon as the room temperature reaches 23 degrees Celcius, the fan keeps running. But, by running, I mean, it never stops. Last summer, I heard that one all summer long. Now, it has just started again because we got some changes in the outside temperature. Is there a setting somewhere to try to adjust that?

Michel,

(1) If you work with the lid closed (and an external screen), it's best to leave the lid open - there's a lot of heat underneath the keyboard
[ I suspect I've had a motherboard down because of that ]

(2) Download speedfan (http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php)
[ dell made me download this last year - I've only used it twice]

- you wll be able to see whether it's the cpu or the gpu
- you may be able to adjust the speed of the fans
