As one of the Toronto sports writers put it, "Now that he is not hidden on the frozen tundra of the Rogers Centre, what the rest of the baseball world will soon discover is that this guy is not just slightly better than the man he replaces, Cliff Lee, he's a lot better."

I am still a Jays fan, but now I'm also a Phillies fan (in the NL anyway).

The problem with Lee was that had he had little margin for error. When Lee's location was perfect, he was very good. But when his location was even a bit off, teams really clubbed him.

Halladay "seems" to have greater margin for error. I was surprised to learn that he can still hit 94-95 with his four-seamer. Between that and his sinker and cutter, his stuff is filthy. About the only thing I didn't like about opening day was his curveball - lots of break, but seemed a bit predictable. But obviously, it was opening day and I'm sure even he had a few jitters. I was extremely impressed. Hopefully he will rub off on Hamels, a guy with great stuff but some real head issues.
