>Bonnie's suggestion has issues. If you want it to run scheduled, then a service is not the way to go. Also, services add complexity themselves as they must be installed in the Windows folder and by default run under the System account, so added rights may be required to access data.

I, personally, have not done much with Windows Services, but I know we had a few in our old apps and there were no problems that I'm aware of. I will be delving into it a bit more in a couple of weeks, since we're going to be using a Windows Service to host our WCF services and message bus (I think Gary already wrote it ... I haven't looked at it yet though).

I think Paul's post highlights some good ideas for using services.
