The Dems are dead in November and despite the publicly offered drivel from party hacks, they know it all too well. There is very little time left before the campaign kicks into gear so they are going for uber-lefty broke because this is their last shot at imposing their Statist ideas. Cap-n-trade has become a carbon tax. Public calls for a VAT. Union-backed card-check, financial "reform". The idea is to throw everything at the wall and hope something sticks...and by sticks I mean that they can buy off a republican senator. The 01 and 03 tax cuts expire in 2011 so regardless of whether anything else passes, taxes are rising.

Unless something dramatic happens, think terrorist attack, massive employment jump, etc... this year is going to be worst than 1994 for the Dems. This is going to be the most significant election of my lifetime. We have one shot to repeal the country-collapsing disaster which has just been foisted upon us and despite my misgivings about the American citizenry, in the end, when it really matters, they have always risen up and done what's necessary. Repeal and reform is necessary for our country's very survival. C'mon America! Don't let me down.

>It will surprise me to see any new taxes passed in an election year. Not with the Democrats in the majority and on the run already.

>>The US next year will be at the 50% for the top level income tax. Because of the huge budget deficits, there has been a lot of talk about adding a VAT tax as well. Just adding to Jake's comment.

>>I can hardly wait until the US follows suit. $13 trillion+ debt isn't going to pay itself.
