I just have no desire to spend $ (and definitely not 500.00) for a tool that is really only good for browsing and email and running their silly apps - no matter how fancy or nice or intuitive the interface is. I don't get it. If you do, great. It obviously is a great fun toy for many. I have a friend who buys every single wonderful Apple gadget there is (which is how I manage to test them) and even buys other toys (like huge telescopes and cameras etc). I haven't been really impressed yet. I have to have real bang for my buck and the features or stuff have to be something I really want or need.

>>>Don't forget it's a reader as well. Millions have spent $250 a pop for Amazon's Kindle, which is only a reader, and inferior to the iPad even at that. (Smaller screen, black and white only, no way to switch between one page portrait and two page landscape views by turning it, etc.)

>I don't imagine an HDTV looks too hot in bright light, either. Does that mean no one should buy one?

I laugh when I see the adverts with people using their laptops on a sunny terrace/ the beach etc.

I'm sitting in my room with the curtains drawn (south facing room and we're having a sunny day) otherwise I can hardly see whats on the screen.
