We're one year into it. That's way too soon to draw conclusions, especially considering the economic conditions when he took office. We were in the midst of a full blown catastrophe.

It looks now like it will go down as only a bad recession, not something worse, which I credit to strong government intervention. That action started in the fall of 2008 under Bush and has continued under Obama.
