The Widget is a generic application that can be installed remotely. So, the purpose of the links is to bring people to the related news page or to the main page of this site in regards to the threads.

I already have two members that have installed it on their Web site. You can also see if at http://www.levelextreme.com. So, it just simply makes sense to forward the user to the related news page on the Internet or to this site, assuming the news items is stored on this server, and to home page as far as links go on the thread items.
