I'm not sure it would be a good idea to have it navigate into the same window as the members are used to have it opened in a new window. This was initially added in response to members to have a quick link to open the home page so to get access to news or download items for example. It would also frustrate the members if this would navigate in the same window, those scrapping the actual session where the member was in the middle of reading new messages.
