If I understand this: when in buffering mode, and I do a REPLACE, the contents are not actually placed in the physical table until after the TABLEUPDATE()? If that is the case, then the REPLACE should work. I must be doing something wrong--which is nothing new. I'll look into it, Nancy, and I appreciate your taking the time to educate me.

That way, the table is only updated with TABLEUPDATE(), with REVERT() being an option. Then again, I am relatively new to buffering.
