Part of it is that for many years, people in the community thought that Ken ran the Fox team and had more authority than he really had. Ken was the marketing guy, no more, no less. He never ran the team. He had no one reporting to him. I don't want to diminish what Ken did, but he had far less power than many people give him.

Much of what we have in VFP can be traced to Randy's specs and product plans and efforts. I've heard from several realiable sources that if it weren't for Randy, VFP 9 never would have happened. And let's not forget things that Calvin did on his own time, like add Intellisense during his vacation.
