I am working through the www.LearnDevNow.com training videos on C# right now and consider these videos to be excellent. I await the Visual Studio 2010 videos with great anticipation.

So far, I've gotten videos from www.Lynda.com, which are excellent, www.LearnVisualStudio.Net, which are also excellent, but not yet from www.PluralSight.com . I could not resist the Deal from the AppDev people (www.LearnDevNow.com) for a year of training for only $99.00. I think this is still good for a few more days, perhaps. From the few videos I've seen on PluralSight's web site, I think their training is excellent also. It is a bit expensive for me right now though.

Unfortunately, there are only so many hours in a day, and the body gets tired, as well as the eyes. I attend the local junior college here in southern California in the evenings for two courses, one in C# and the other in Transact SQL. I really love these courses. They are filling in missing areas, meaning information I had not yet learned on my own through either experience or study; since the training is structured, I feel that I am getting a better deal than doing this alone, at least until I've got my .NET roots growing a bit.

Why do I bother to "reveal all" about my training here in front of God and country on UT? It is for a couple reasons. If someone is thinking about learning .NET, maybe they can see that even an old guy like me can also learn it and maybe that'll encourage that person forward. The other is that I would invite all who read this to offer suggestions for myself and others as to how best we can learn a very complex set of subjects in regard to .NET.

I am still a die-hard Visual FoxPro developer, but with limited jobs for FoxPro, I have, although admittedly belatedly, turned my sails into the .NET wind since October of 2009. Yeah, I'm a little late to the party, but I've come to the party. And, to tell the truth, it isn't a bad party. Lots of fun in .NET.

Proof of my devotion to Visual FoxPro is that I was the only developer wearing a gray Visual FoxPro polo shirt to the Visual Studio 2010 Launch, which got a few curious eyes turned my way, and even a few laughs. I don't mind the laughs.
