I agree. Being acknowledged for your work, is always a good thing. I just won the Civilian, Administrative Employee of the Year award at the Memphis Police Deptartment and it's really the only time I've been awarded something like that. I was part of the team that won the Excellence in Law Enforcement award for the RTCC, last year, and that was nice too. However, I worked at the Sheriff's Office for 31 years and developed programs that have helped put thousands of criminals behind bars, even having my WASP program profiled by MS in a case study, but never got a thank you or kiss my entire .... Some organizations have class, and some don't - I reckon.

I think all the folk we are talking about deserve accolades. I know they have helped me, many without even knowing it. I only hope I have been able to pass along some of that wisdom, and that it helped to make a difference.

>I like the LifeTime Contributor award (and I agree with almost every one of the names mentioned), but I also agree with John K that another award for the new developers contributing (best new contributor for the year or something?) is a great idea.

>I may be alone in thinking that it shouldn't be limited to those only working with Fox these days. There are plenty of deserving folks who have been mentioned who are currently working with both VFP and .NET and even so, their contributions to the VFP community have not diminished.

>>Maybe we should just honor them all. So many people have made great contributions to the success of Fox. I have enjoyed the ride, and have been honored to have known most of them. I've not seen any other group of nerds that could compare to the foxgang, from the annual photos at Devcon, to jamming, to the knock down, drag outs, to the shared highs and lows. It is a unique group.

>>>No no no....don't get me wrong. I am in no way questioning the integrity of the people involved. I have nothing but admiration for Doug and Tamar and Alan. In fact, I think it's pretty clear that anyone offering their time for the VFP community is doing it for love; those looking for money have moved on.

>>>I'm just averse to navel-contemplating :-) even well well-intentioned.

>>>YAG would never comment on this opinion, but knowing the way MS works it's likely not helping his career the clock cycles he spends on Fox. Like when I was there my last year it was "move on, find another niche, you're hurting your career....et al". It can't have gotten better.
