Sorry to drop into this conversation a bit late ...

Gregory and I are both members of AtoutFox, friends, peers, and attended the same session by Francis Faure at 2010 Rencontres AtoutFox.

My feeling is just the opposite.

I agree on 2 points :
1- etec fails on communicating and meeting deadlines ... who does better around here ? I don't ; and sure wouldn't with such a risky and ambitious project.
2- starting a new project ? take with new tools ... .Net, PHP, whatever

but
what can I do with my 60 man-year of VFP code ?
1- buy a lottery ticket
2- support etec and forgive them for the above mentioned flaws.

What I saw from Francis presentation was VERY impressive, even for a .Net skeptic as me.

I see the 'Compiler / Runtime status - as March, 2010' go forward ... they now attack the hardest part : data access, what VFP is strong at

I appreciate their plan to extend VFP language with TLOCAL, 'Generators and Iterators' and 'Array Comprehensions'.

I think the best way to see the project acheived is to SUPPORT IT with FAITH and OPTIMISM.

Please keep in mind it can save some of us thousands or even millions !

Delivering pessimistic / doubtful message condemns, if not the product, at least the willingness to adopt it.
It's communication basics. Let's try to do better then etec !

Gregory is involved in .Net, VFP is no longer in his plan, OK, that's fine. It's simply not universal truth. Greg himself agrees with that.
