His jokes are really funny in a setting like that. Everyone there knew he won a grammy this past year for his bluegrass cd, so he says something like:

"This past January I walked off with the grammy for the best bluegrass cd, then found out the next day I had won it"

Just a really funny line the way he said it.

>Yes, agreed. I have seen Steve and his band play on the Letterman show. The banjo, as I'm sure you know, is not a late career lark for him. His original entry into show business was playing the banjo and telling jokes on the club circuit in Southern California. I bet that was a unique niche <g>.

>>This past Saturday, I was at a music festival (merlefest.org) here in NC, and Steve Martin was the main attraction (with his banjo and new bluegrass CD). Anyway, I was just off stage about 20 feet from him and he had his iPad on his music stand (I guess with his notes of what he was gonna sing). Anyway, he showed it to the 20 or 30,000 people there and told some jokes about it.

>>Just thought it was funny he already had one, although I have to admit I had already thought that would be a good small device to replace sheet music or just words, etc.
>>
>>As a side note, he is one tremendous musician (and funny to boot).

>>>The VP of the IT department bought an iPad. You should have seen the people crowding around to get a look. And this is a traditional Wintel shop. I don't think there's a Mac in the place.
