Invalid comparison. Vista was a bomb but the market had no problem running on XP while waiting for the next major OS (Windows 7). There were no other mass-marketable viable desktop alternatives (go ahead and flame me and say linux is viable - been there, done that).

There are lots of modern alternatives to VFP.

VFP was only used in a small market when it was a current product. That market is drying up quickly as customers move to more modern alternatives.

Some of the alternatives have huge developer bases (hence support and maintainability).

Some of the alternatives will be around for a LONG time and are produced by major companies.

Developers and users of VFP based solutions would be stupid to wait to see if this product ever happens while the world passes them by. There is no reason to wait. VFP isn't coming back. VFP doesn't have enough unique features that make it a requirement for development.
