No, I did not get the person's name because I don't believe the person is to blame for anything going on with VFP's position at the show. The problem is deeper than some guy at a booth and we may aways have to play "second fiddle" unless we show what is different about VFP from other tools.

I believe what Rick Strahl has been saying above. We must be able to write some articles showing VFP's strengths. This of course is easier said than done. One needs time, dedication and an idea if one is to write.

I think VFP can distinguish itself as a web based development tools. It has all the abilities of Perl plus many inherent development tools such as db access and a real programming language plus integrates well with other MS components.

I have used West-Wind's core development system very succesfully in developing applications using VFP.

I just bought a copy of WebBuilder. They have technical articles about developing web applications with Perl and VBA. That would be a great place to have an article that shows how VFP web based apps have a certain advantage over say Perl or C++. Many people don't even know that VFP is a development environment with a runtime parser (a necessity for Web apps). Someone has to show them.

I also I saw an issue of Visual Studio Magazine (I did not buy it). The front cover featured reviews of VC, VB, VJ, and Interdev. No mention of VFP. Why? I guess no one on their staff knew what to write about it.

Anyway, I still believe that MS is not doing enough for VFP and they may never will. My concern is that it is getting tougher for me to find younger people who are willing to learn VFP. They come with resume's that match whatever MS is selling:

Objective: Would like to develop applications for sophisticated company suning my experise with MS Tools.

Experience: Visual Studio (VC++, VB, VJ++ and Interdev). Also some Access, Office and Outlook.

They never heard of VFP and may never will.
