You're absolutely wrong about that. If authorities want to stop and question me, they have to have probable cause. If a cop stops me on the street and asks to see my ID, he has to tell me why and the reason has to pass muster.

Question for you - you reguarly talk about "common good", "civic duty", etc. - can you see where someone might view your statement here as inconsistent?
