How would themes cause something NOT to highlight? If you want highlights then you have to write dynamic changes by code for that textbox. Themes only causes command buttons and other controls to have a softer, more rounded shape with accents. Colors of controls are not turned off because of it.

Pageframe colors are affected by themes. You have to disable themes to change colors of the background.
