>>>It was a good story. There's also a good one on Halladay in today's National Post (Toronto paper). There is no getting around the fact that Lincecum is extraordinary. More importantly he's always been a real likable guy.

>>On that note, the big news around here this week was the death of Robin Roberts, and pretty much every article talked about what a nice guy he was. In fact, they mentioned that he didn't throw brushback pitches.
>>
>>I think the most amazing stat in all the ones I've seen was that he once pitched 28 complete games in a row. My paper compared that to the whole Phillies team having 32 complete games since 2004.

>I think it was news everywhere. there was a story on him in the Toronto Star too. Yes, he was amazing, but as for complete games, we have to remember that this was before the days of the pitch counting managers and pitching coaches. Unfortunately, I was a little kid during his best years and wasn't yet ready to give the game the attention it deserved. I have memories of him, but not the years in which he really deserved to be remembered.
Right. I understand that the game is different now, but 28 complete games in a row is incredible for any era.
>Of those 32 since 2004, 2 are from the new kid (who's only pitched in 7 games for them). ;)
Yep, and one was Jamie Moyer on Thursday, the oldest pitcher ever to pitch a complete game shutout.
