Sometimes we take inspiration where we can find it.
I went to bed very early and am wide awake in the middle of the night. We have been experiencing a Novemberish May and lightning is flashing. And another crash of thunder, right on cue. I have been thinking of running again -- not now! -- and my inspiration is Steve Prefontaine. Not that I will ever be as fast as him, not even close. But I know what a runner's high feels like.
Here are a few videos, courtesy of YouTube. Pre's life was tragically short but it was never stinting. He only went one way, and that was all out.
"To give anything better than your best is to sacrifice the gift."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMVOJYJD0X0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=To44NkJPS8wThe good news is I am in love again. She's an English schoolteacher, a young widow, and we feel exactly right for each other. We already finish each other's thoughts. We laugh like hyenas. I want to know her every day for the rest of my life. So life is good.
Wish us luck. True love is hard to find and lord knows I need it. I really am going to depart from the UT for a while. Being so obsessed with it hasn't done me much good, has it?
Maybe I shouldn't be a writer. I buried the lead <g>.
