>>>Hi,
>>>
>>>Do I need to change anything in the connecting string when accessing database on SQLEXPRESS? I have moved a database from PC running SQL Server 2005 Devel Edition to the same version of SQL Server but EXPRESS edition. I use the following connecting string:
>>>
>>>
>>>nConnect = SQLSTRINGCONNECT([DRIVER=SQL Server;SERVER=(local);DATABASE=MyDbName;Trusted_Connection=Yes])
>>>
>>>
>>>But I get error on the PC with SQL Server Express. One of the errors is that the database is not accessible. I tried to run VFP 9 as Administrator (in case this is the issue) but still am getting error.
>>>
>>>I would appreciate any help.

>>These work for me on Win7-64 (and also SQL server itself is 64 bits version 2008 and 2008 R2):

lnHandle = SQLStringConnect("Driver={SQL Server Native Client 10.0};server=.\SQLExpress;Trusted_Connection=yes")
>>
>>PS: Prefer not using ODBC driver but ADO driver. VFP have serious problems with ODBC to new SQL server datatypes.

>Thank you, Cetin. Just so that I understand, the SQL Server Native Client driver that you have in your connecting string is ADO driver?

No. It is ODBC driver and it is the correct ODBC driver for SQL2008[R2]. It does work for older 2005/2000 too. There are different drivers for SQL server versions. You were using the SQL 2000 driver (that may be a problem + you didn't include instancew name that may be your problem too. Default installation is: .\SQLExpress). I wouldn't suggest using 2000 driver as like VFP it is unaware of new datatypes and cause mistakes.
