Not to join the fray, do some research on the Clinton financial deregulation. (We've had this discussion before and no one seems to want to lay any blame at his feet but that is where it firmly belongs - along with George W. who later wanted everyone to own a home whether they could afford it or not and added to the mess when his administration made sure it happened). The effects were not felt during his tenure, but certainly afterwards. Those two are firmly behind that mess.
