I don't have any sympathy for sex predators, as I stated clearly in my first reply. What I object to, strongly, is this concept of keeping someone (anyone) in prison well past the end of their sentence, based on some individual's decision that they are still a threat to society. As others have said, if the sentencing guidelines for this type of offense are too lenient, then make them tougher. But don't sentence someone to prison, they serve out their sentence, then keep them anyway. Our judicial system has never worked that way and I don't want it to work that way now.
