>More evasion. Changing the subject is a classic evasive technique, along with skipping the knotty questions. KG, will you ever in your life, just once, say "Maybe I was wrong about this"?

>Mike, when someone is all up in arms about the federal govt allegedly overstepping bounds here, I want to see how consistent they are. It's called critical thinking - you should try it sometime.

No need. You haven't so far and I have no reason to believe you would now, despite what you say.

Saying the legal process has failed time and time again is a statement of opinion, not fact. As several of us have said, many times now, the correct solution to that problem (if it exists) is to make sentencing tougher. Keeping a person in prison after the end of his sentence, based on the opinion of someone that he remains dangerous, is the part I object to. I don't know how I could be any more clear about that.

Just so it's crystal clear, I have ZERO love of sex offenders. This is about general rights owed to all Americans under the Bill of Rights, among other things. It's not about individuals. If we start saying this particularly contemptible group is no longer entitled to this particular right, the only real question is which contemptible group and right will be next. Chip away and chip away and chip away, and before long there isn't a whole lot left. No thank you.

We don't need to keep batting this back and forth. We have both made our positions clear. It seems that when a disagreement continues on and on it often turns nasty and/or personal, and that is not something I am looking for. I have wasted too much time already in those discussions. I'm reformed, I am! ;-) (My name is Mike and I am opinionated. I have not been in a flame war in three months....)

Back to work for me.
