>>>I keep telling you, Alan, you should really give soccer a try.

>>I know that soccer is just about the most popular sport in the world (going by numbers of fans), but there is just something a little too slow about it for me. You watch hockey and you get scores of 4-3 or some such and shots on goal like 20-18. You watch soccer, and you get 1-0 with shots on goal 6-5. Jeeeeeezz!

>>A guy runs down the field dribbling the ball, and somebody from the opposing team runs by and creates a breeze which knocks the dribbler to the ground writhing in horrific pain like he may never walk again; the ref holds up a yellow card to the guy who ran past him; the guy on the ground sees this, does a kip-up to his feet and on goes the game. Is this a sport, or an SNL routine?

>>One thing I gotta say for those soccer players though; they sure conditioned. I imagine those guys could run mile sprints without feeling winded.

Only in the playoffs, though, right? And even then they didn't get it right IMO. If the first team scores a touchdown, isn't that still it? Talk about half measures that don't address the real problem (inequity of the team losing the coin toss not even getting the ball).
