With those specs, you'll most likely have to go with a machine that has a good graphics card because the manufacturer's assume that the consumer will use it for gaming. The other option is to spend a bit more for a "business" level machine.
The minimum OS you want is WIn7 Pro. You might be able to go with a machine that has less RAM and a smaller hard drive, then add more memory and a second drive for less money. When I bought my server last year I got a "gaming" machine, 8 Gig RAM, 650 Gig HD, quad core. Dell wanted $250 for another terabyte drive. I got one for $100 from New Egg. The one downside is the machine was on clearance and doesn't support hardware virtualization (you'll definately want a PC that supports it).

>What model do you have? The descriptions on the Asus site are a little inscrutable. Ideally I would find a quad core with 8 gig of RAM and at least 1 TB hard drive. Multimedia features not needed.
