>>The New York Times takes notice: Outbreak of Dengue Fever Is Reported in Florida, Health Officials Say. Excerpt: Dengue fever, a growing scourge in the tropics, has established itself in a popular American tourist destination, federal health officials reported last week. Last August, an alert doctor in upstate New York realized that one of his patients, whose only recent travel had been to Key West, Fla., had dengue — a mosquito-borne virus that causes joint pain so severe it is nicknamed “break-bone fever” in Latin America and Asia.

>Well - at least there will not be a whole lot of people in Key West soon - or at least no tourist - because the lovely BP oil spill is going to end up in the Atlantic Loop current and thus prolly destroy the FL Keys too.

What an unmitigated disaster. I know it's easier said than done but it amazes me that they haven't been able to contain it after all this time. As you say, it's getting worse, not better.

About the only good that may come from this is BP taking a severe hit in their business. This is certainly not their first mishap. The closest gas station to my house is a BP station which I have been to many times. No more.
