You're missing the point. Does it take longer to develop WPF apps? Yes, IN THE BEGINNING. That's because you have to relearn everything you ever known about forms development. Once you get the hang of it, it doesn't take any more time than Winforms.

As for running slower than Winforms, I stand by my previous statements that beta users are seeing improved productivity.

I also stated it will take some time for Winforms to go away. But, it will only get worse. I'm currently working on a project that uses an old version of a C++ compiler. It was released in 2002. Yes, it still works, but it's getting harder and harder to keep applications running and update them because of changes in Windows and decreased support from 3rd party vendors. Go look at the companies that have either stopped updating COM components or completely dropped support for them? It will happen with Winforms.

>WOW What an insightful and specific example of how WPF can improve line of business applications! Lets rushout and start replacing all those windows forms. I mean to heck with the FACT that they don’t have or need any graphic content. And to heck with the fact that it will take a HECK of a lot more time than winforms. And to Heck with the fact that they just plain old don’t load or run as fast We can make them buy New hardware we don’t have more than 20,000 or so computers anyway.
>Thiers not a single thing you’ve said that come anywhere near validating you’re point.
>And as far as windows forms are going away, What a load of *rap . How long do you think it will be before you cant run windows forms in windows ? Come on I can still run Fox 2.6 apps. I think we will be fine in our lifetime.
>Fact is just because MS pours the koolaid doesn’t mean we all have to drink it.
>
>In this economy MS’s attitude of Heres our new technology that take twice the time to use as the old onejust isn’t going to cut it.
>They could do use all a favor and round file whatever their next meta data xml languages is. Make it All work in the designer.
>I think MS should look a little closer at the next Java idea they ripoff, maybe they will get it right.
