I'm thinking of when you need to package up the installation of SQL Express as part of an automated install process and, by definition, not know what SQL servers are already on the target machine. The end user may or may not want to use an existing SQL server to host the database; if they opt for a new instance then the security settings need to be automatically set up to allow the application the neccessary rights, etc. . ..etc,....
If you are aware of anything that can automate this is an even semi-foolproof way please let me know.......
