Ergo, no global warming!

This whole saga is a case study in the power of money. Not very many years ago -- two? three? -- there was near unanimity among scientists that global warming was real and not just a statistical tic, at least among those scientists not employed by the petrochemical industry. The finger was pointed squarely at the industries which directly and indirectly pollute our atmosphere the most. Little boutiques like oil and automobiles. Fast forward a bit and now, according to U.S. public opinion polls at least, it is a discredited theory. One group of researchers unethically trying to tilt things in their direction seems to have sealed the deal. It's all over, folks, move along, move along. Nothing to see here.

Quite a remarkable PR campaign, really. In a perverse way I salute them.
