Do you have the odbc driver installed? If not do that first. Then:

There is a VFP to MySql example here:

http://fox.wikis.com/wc.dll?Wiki~VFPCommandSQLStringConnect

(see the entry from Alex about half-way down)

A slightly different tutorial:
http://efransiscus.wordpress.com/2009/03/15/tutorial-using-mysql-odbc-connector-with-foxpro-9-and-mysql/

I think the odbc part is available in the chapter visible here:
MySQL Client-Server applications with Visual Foxpro
http://books.google.com/books?id=NqQHylwqeZ4C&dq=foxpro+connect+to+mysql&printsec=frontcover&source=in&hl=en&ei=PVYETO3GF8HflgeK1PyCDQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=11&ved=0CFUQ6AEwCg#v=onepage&q=foxpro%20connect%20to%20mysql&f=false

If you are going to do a bit of programming in VFP against MySQL, you should buy the book :o)
