>>>What is the proper use of a dollar sign in a price display? In English, should we put it at the end or at the beginning? Also, what about French?

Maybe the Euro wasn't a good choice for an example :-}
Certainly most of the EU countries place it after the amount.
IIRC Germany used to use Dm100 etc for the Deutchemark but now uses a suffixed euro sign ?
What do they do in Belguim ?

Wkipedia contradicts itself here :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currency_sign
"The standardized European default placement, used in absence of a national standard, is that (€) is placed before the amount"
Anyway who are the americans to dictate where we put our currency symbols (g,d & r)

>If you use EUR/GBP/USD I've always heard that you can put the currency before or after the amount
>
>USD 1,000.00
>1,000.00 USD

I think we should abandon this discussion and accept the ruling of the ultimate authority
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/goglobal/bb688126.aspx)
ie. use .NET CultureInfo and GetCurrencyFormat() :-}
