>>You have probably already heard there was almost another perfect game last night, the third in three weeks. Was, really. Quite unbelievable. A young Venezuelan for the Tigers, with a career record of 20-18 and recently called back up from the minors, covered first base on a grounder and apparently recorded the 27th out. Whoops -- the first base umpire inexplicably called the runner safe. Replays clearly showed him to be out. (To his credit, after watching the replay later the ump admitted his mistake and said "I just cost that kid a perfect game."). Galarraga retired the next hitter so it went in the books as a one hitter, facing 28 men. What a shame.

>>This is one of the wackiest statistical anomalies I have ever seen. 18 perfect games in what, 140 years of major league baseball, now 2 (3) in a month.

>Yeah, even accepting randomness, that's pretty darn weird.

>Halladay pitches again tomorrow night. It'll be interesting to see how he does. And, of course, again, we're not going until Saturday. We've seen Kendrick, I think, three times this year, Hamel a couple, Blanton. Guess we'll see Moyer Saturday--that's cool.

>Ah, we're going again on Wednesday. That should be Halladay's turn.

Every time I see Moyer's name I have to remind myself he is still active. Maybe he will be the first person to draw a major league salary and Social Security at the same time ;-)
