You're implying that NET is a "thin client"? You need to add the overhead of the framework and it's affect on the clock. One could say Netscape or Mozilla is a thin client. However, their runtimes are near 100 MB. Most VFP MSI runtimes - as long as the FAT data interfaces are avoided (and the shrimp are veined), are less than 20MB. Sloppy FAT VFP MSI's can get that big - but this s the UT- and no one here writes FAT VFP apps (anymore). It's all about hand coding, structure and center->out design with top down coding.

What NET is all about, and only about, is Microsoft's entry into the service sector and MS NET application development sweatshops being run out of New Deli and China. To make NET look good a whole bunch of capacity had to be shunted into FAT high clock boxes. I got a Win 7 64 quad core one computer down from this on. I totally tuned and tweaked it (zilched all the Windows Live stuff and went through Black Vipers tuneup) - and still this XP Pro SP 1a I am keying this message on kicks the Win 7 64's bott!
