One of the biggest points is TCO - that is one of the reasons MS has been beating Oracle in vendor selection. Shops find they can get to market faster and less expensively with Microsoft. (That is not to say that MS tools are not without their quirks and learning curves....god knows there are quirks....but the market has been speaking on this issue)
