And MySQL has steadily been eating MS SQl for lunch ;)

Actually, just to show your namesake a thing or two, you're right. You may or may not see it on a Gartner report, but there are people out there who prefer MySQL to MS SQL. I certainly prefer MS SQL to MySQL for the functionality provided, but for other spots, MySQL is fine.

(I would probably debate whether MySQL has more functionality, but for some it's simply a better fit)
