>Well, watching this kid Strasburg... Only one game so far, but he looks like the real thing. Great speed mixed up with superb stuff. If he doesn't throw himself out, he's going to really be something.
You couldn't ask for much more in a debut. He gave up a two run homer and that was basically it in seven innings. 14 strikeouts in 7 innings would get attention for any pitcher ever, much less in his first major league appearance. Baseball people have been practically speaking in tongues about Strasburg for at least the past couple of years. Obviously the talent is there. I just hope he can stay healthy. Having witnessed Mark Prior at close hand, about whom very similar things were said, I know you can never count on that.
The Nationals' stadium sold out? Scalpers? Amazing.
Add baseball ---- funny picture in the NY Times on Sunday, taken at Comerica Park last Thursday, the day after the nearly-perfect game. Two fans are standing next to each other, each holding up a sign. One says "28 up!" and the other says "28 down!"
