Dmitry, in 2005 someone told me I should look at .NET generics....I was already doing so, but I still asked the person "why".....the person replied, "well....uhm....I heard it allowed you to write code in a generic way. I'm sure if you google you'll find specifics". <s>

Seriously, I've seen Naomi do this many times in the SQL forum as well as the .NET forum.

Often she gives good advice and makes good points, especially in the SQL area - if it's an area she's quite familiar with. I've even learned, or was able to self-clarify, a thing or two from her posts.

But her lack of familiarity doesn't stop her from inserting herself into a conversation with superficial or even misleading information - that either has no impact or can even confuse the original person raising the question.

I don't know if the reason is merely to increase her # of posts or just a sheer lack of discipline (probably both)....but one would think that after all the backlash she's received (justified or not), it would have lead to some reconsideration.

The defense of "just trying to be helpful" comes with the notion that there's help to be given....one wouldn't give a man with hemorrhagic fever a glass of water to be helpful, simply because the man is complaining of thirst.

I often use Bonnie Berent as an example of the complete opposite - Bonnie obviously knows a great deal, but also knows when not to insert herself. Her record on this is immaculate.

This is why I now believe the individual forums should be run by forum leaders.
