Hi Nancy,

Yep, it is on vacation. I wish I was.

>Maybe it's on vacation? < bg > Seriously, dumb question but are there records in the grid's rowsource?

Yes, there are records in the recordsource and they are appearing in the grid.

>When you click on the grid, are you clicking on a control or empty row? If an empty row, do you have, AllowAddNew set to .F.?

AllowAddNew is .F. because I do not want users adding records except through the external CommandButton for that purpose. This button works in that when pressed a new record is indeed added and certain fields are filled in correctly. The new record appears in the grid as expected -- iow, the grid's record source is updated correctly

I have clicked on every part of the grid, including on the filled rows. It is acting as though it were disabled, but enabled is .T. in the watch window.

????

Regards,

Jim

>>Hi John,

>>Nope! Good guess though. Checking the watch window, the parent is the page it is supposed to be on. There is no indication that there is any other object on top of the grid.
>>
>>More info: The methods affecting the grid -- so far as they can be invoked from outside of the grid appear to work properly: That is, I can add a record the the alias record source and the record source updates properly to display the recrod. Ditto with deleting a record -- both invokes by command buttons outside of the grid. I just cannot make any control in the grid gain focus.

>>All of the controls in the grid that should be enabled/!readonly are enabled/!readonly. All of the columns are enabled/!readonly.
