Thursday night we were driving home from dinner in Topeka - being deer season (deer season is pretty much year-round here) I was on the lookout and able to stop for a couple of deer and a *tiny* doe - probably only a couple of days old - that started across the highway in fron of me.

The deer went across and into the brush, but the doe panicked and just laid down in the road. I turned on my flashers and got out to try to shoo it across, but it just got up and ran to me. After it got the idea I wanted it to move it ran to the car and tried to get in my door (still open) so I had to grab it and pull it out.

My wife gout out and between us we managed to get him off the road on the wrong side (where his mother wasn't) and he ran into the brush.

By this time cars were driving around our car (on a 2 lane 65mph road w/no shoulder) and I really didn't want to cause a wreck so we only stayed another minute or 2 trying to make sure it didn't run back out on the road. We didn't see it again.

I'm hoping its' mother got back to it. We drove the same route yesterday and didn't see any fresh blood or carcasses, so maybe thats a good sign..
