Reminds me of a cruise, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal, in 1957. It was September/October, and we were in the North Atlantic in the vicinity of the Arctic circle. I was watching our Destroyer escorts completely disappearing in the swells for what seemed like at least a few minutes each time.

It made me feel glad to be aboard the 60 K ton class carrier. It was bounced around quite a bit, though. There were no launching/recovering aircraft that particular day(s).
